The area surrounding the village is a walker's delight, with a wide choice of gentle rambles to more strenuous gradient fell walking. Spring to autumn are the seasons to sample the Alpine flora, but winter has its own rewards with spectacular scenery and an invigorating atmosphere. The numerous paths are well signposted and allow you to rejoin the village at many points, permitting you to vary the length of your route. It is easy to combine your walk with a ski lift ride. On a personal note, one particular walk, which we cherish, starts a few hundred metres from the apartment and runs gently along the lower valley terrace. It is south east facing and gives inspiring views. It can be left at a number of points to return to the village. A favourite terminus is the Waldhotel Fletschorn hotel with its terrace restaurant and Swiss cuisine.
The best maps are the official Swiss O.S. series but the local Tourist Office can provide others free, together with guidance and suggestions.
